The Chevrolet Orlando, a car that they apparently still make basically only for South Korea, has a hidden storage compartment behind the radio controls. That is all.
The C7 Corvette also does the same thing with the infotainment screen.

The modern GM SUVs also have a little hideaway behind their touchscreens.
Manufacturers need to do this more often, especially if there’s a USB port in there with both charging and a data link. That means you can have a throwaway MP3 player for all of your music needs.

That is what I do. I have an iPod classic (the last one) and I stash it in the cubby between the seats.

“We still have a Double DIN slot from when we desgined this car. But the screens are so thin! What should we do?!”
Imagine if TVs had done this. You go to the store and buy a 55” LCD and it comes in a 24” deep case with storage compartments in it. Just because people love the form factor of CRTs. Maybe you could even get them with wood paneling.

The Orlando’s radio panel rattles every time you use it I bet.
